Activities |
| North Devon and North Cornwall have some of the
country’s finest beaches and coastal scenery, miles of beautiful
rolling countryside, imposing moorland and wooded valleys, and a
wealth of indoor and outdoor activities.

The Bickford Arms is ideally placed for access to the coast and
Dartmoor National Park. It is also centrally placed for family
attractions such as the Eden Project, The Milky Way, The Big Sheep,
the unique and crazy Gnome Reserve, the pannier markets of
Holsworthy and Hatherleigh, and a host of other attractions, big and
small. If you like to walk, we are in the heart of Devon’s Ruby
Country and within easy reach of both the Tarka Trail and the Two
Moors Way. |

Country pursuits We can organise a
variety of shoots: clay, rough or driven, and can accommodate
shooting parties. We have a minibus to take groups to venues for
shoots or other pursuits if needed. Riding is also popular and well
catered for in the local area. There is a wealth of excellent coarse
and river fishing locally.
Golf There are first-class golf
courses open to the public at Bude, Okehampton and Holsworthy, as
well as other courses, both links and green, a little further
afield. |

Beach, coast and moor The North
Devon and North Cornwall coast offers miles of sandy beaches and
sheltered coves, and its famous Atlantic surf. Many surf and
adventure schools thrive in the area, offering kit for hire or
supervised ‘adventure’ days. From surfing or sea canoeing to rock
climbing and abseiling, there’s something for everybody to enjoy.
The South-West Coast Path is simply stunning, with many entry points
to paths over dizzying cliffs, wooded combes and tranquil coastal
farmland. And the brooding tors of Dartmoor are only a short drive
away. | |
